UPDATE: After 30+ years of planning, The Museum that we have loved and talked about so excitedly is now, sadly, THE MUSEUM THAT NEVER WAS. We walked in to our space one day to find David Kidd, a known lawbreaker, standing in our museum, going through boxes.
How was was this possible?
The Commercial Landlord, Gerald Franson, shocked the hell out of us by cutting a hole in between our museum storage unit, and our commercial neighbor--a second hand store run by a man with a long record. He did this, of course--removed a load bearing wall--without a permit. The building is now unsafe. (Don't get us started on the asbestos.)
It cratered us, to see valuable and sentimental family heirlooms for sale on the Kidd family's Facebook Marketplace site. SHOCKING: Not the landlord NOR the local police, NOR the Mayor would do a thing about it.
